Janu Basti Treatment

The stages of janu basti treatment are mentioned below:

1. Preparation: The therapist prepares the heated medicinal oil or herbal decoction that has been selected precisely for the individual’s condition and dosha imbalance in Ayurveda.

2. Patient positioning: The patient rests comfortably on their back, knees flexed.

3. Dough preparation and application: The therapist makes a dough by combining black gramme or wheat flour with water. The dough is then formed into a ring that wraps around the knee joint, creating a place to store for the oil or decoction.The therapist delicately wraps the dough ring around the knee joint, providing a perfect fit against the skin.

4. Pouring oil: Warm therapeutic oil or herbal decoction is poured into the dough structure by the therapist, enabling it to fill the reservoir surrounding the knee joint.

5. Storage: The oil or decoction is held within the dam-like structure for a set amount of time, usually 20 to 30 minutes. This permits the oil or decoction medicinal qualities to permeate deeply into the knee joint.

6. Process repetition: Depending on the individual’s condition, the process of pouring heated oil or decoction into the dough may be done several times during the session to maximize the advantages.

7. Completion: The therapist gently removes the dough ring and any extra oil or decoction from the knee joint area after the required length.
